 Deepu, who had met Kamala on his various morning-walks, has a secret liking for her. Kunhunhu also finds Kamala interesting and plays a bagful of tricks to win her over. Thereafter, events unfold with a lot of twists, turns, hair-pin bends and what not.
The usual triangle love story stuff follows- sacrifice, missunderstanding,etc. The film lacks naturality in the second half and what we witness is a patched-up climax.
The script has been written jointly by Dr.Iqbal Kuttipuram and Kamal himself. Editing has been done by K. Rajagopal while Kamal's regular P Sukumar has donned the role of the cinematographer. Suresh Kollam has has done the art direction.
Lyrics are by Kaithapram. Mohan Sithara has composed some good tracks for the film. `Karuppin Azhagu... ', ` Malarkili..', `Oru Poomathram' and `Ishtamallada... ' are sure to find a place in the hit charts. Besides Yesudas, Sujatha, Madhu Balakrishnan, Kamal has given opportunity for young voices like Jyolsna, Fahad, Afsal, Sunil, Chitra Iyer, Rajesh Vijay and Pradeep Babu to make a mark in filmdom.
The movie has been shot extensively in Pondicherry while the songs have been picturised in scenic locales of Vienna and Pondicherry.
Prithviraj and Mira Jasmine impress while Kunchacko , Jayasuriya and Bhavana play their parts well. Cochin Haneefa handles a bit of comedy along with Noolunda. Laila and Manya make special appearances.
Swapnakoodu, though good in bits and pieces, has a thin plot and lacks a realistic flavour which one normally associates with Kamal films.
The film has been distributed throughout Kerala by Lal Release.
