Popular Malayalam heroine Meera Jasmin, got introduced into Tamil as heroine through the film "Run", that later proved a great hit. She paired with Madhavan in it. Next, she teamed with Shyam in "Bala". As her third picture in Tamil, she acted in "Geethai", as Vijay's heroine!

Q1: You have got very good reception, as a beloved heroine, from among Tamil film audience. Your market value too, they say, has enabled you to receive a stunningly huge amount as your salary....! Then, why have you minimized the number of your new film-commitments.....?

Answer: From the beginning, I have not shown keen interest in doing so many films at the same time. In Malayalam field also, only after much thinking and consideration, I decided to accept a few number of films. Today, I know very well that I have got good rapport with Tamil film audience too! Does it mean that it is a 'must' that I should give my call sheets to more number of Tamil films? I have to do the acting in films, that's all! But the right to decide whether I should do a film or not solely rests with me alone...

             Even at the time of my entry into cine-field, I had come with the decision that I should act only in quality films with good story-base. Till today, it is not the number of films I do that count to me.... Only the quality matters. You say that cine people are ready to give me more money in case I demand it....But, did I come to this field simply to earn money? It is not so...I took to acting only for the sake of self-satisfaction. Now, I am prepared to wait patiently until the time I would be offered the role of my liking.... I hope I will definitely get one day, the ideal role that I long to play.

Q2 : Is due importance is given to your role in "Geethai"?

Answer: Even at the time of story-narration to me by the newface director K.B.Jain, I resolved to act positively, in the film, "Geethai". As my callsheet position readily favoured my commitment in the film, I began acting in it. The shooting work continues to be carried on very smoothly, since then. My role in the film will popularize me further, among the cinema fans, because, I am a Tamil-speaking artiste. Whether I pair with Vijay or Ameesha Patel does pair with him in the film, is a matter of suspense. It would be most fitting to say that I, on my part, am very favourably biased towards my character role in the film.

Q3 : What about your relationship with Ameesha Patel during the film's shooting?

Answer : Why.....Do you expect both of us are quarelling with each other? Nothing has happened like that.....In fact, Ameesha Patel and myself became close friends during shooting work. As her role in the film happened to be that of a Malayalam doctor, she learned to speak Malayalam by understanding the meaning of words that I taught her!

Q4 : Ajith is a frontline actor. Why did you refuse to team with him in "Maha"?

Answer: The magazines in Tamilnadu had written so many gossips, so freely, about me, when they came to know that I was unable to act with him (Ajith) in the film... Ajith is a frontline actor.  Would anyone artiste like me, who is just coming up in film industry, refuse to act with such a big actor like him? You, yourself think over it.....Let me also explain what actually happened then.....I did not have matching callsheet dates to commit in "Maha" then. But let me say I will definitely team with Ajith as and when the next opportunity comes my way.
